What to Expect
How the process works
We know that reaching out for help takes courage. We’ve made the process as simple and welcoming as possible — no complicated intake forms, no long wait lists. Just a phone call, a friendly conversation, and a thoughtful match.
Call us and leave a message
Call (215) 322-2586 at any time and leave a brief message. You don’t need to go into detail — just let us know you’d like to speak with someone. You can also reach us by email at counselingtcc.officemanager@gmail.com.
Speak with Ruth Hartman
Our Associate Director, Ruth Hartman, will return your call personally. She’ll have a brief, confidential conversation with you to understand your situation and what kind of support you’re looking for. This isn’t a formal assessment — it’s simply a caring conversation to help us understand your needs.
Get matched with the right therapist
Based on your conversation with Ruth, she’ll recommend the clinician on our team who is the best potential fit for you — considering their specialties, availability, and your personal situation. A good therapeutic relationship matters, and we take the matching process seriously.
Your fee is set — based on what you can pay
We establish your sliding-scale fee at the time of your initial call. There’s no paperwork to fill out. We accept cash, check, or credit card. If finances are a concern, please don’t let that stop you from calling — that’s exactly what our sliding scale is designed for.
Begin your sessions
Sessions are held in-person at our office at 82 Buck Road, Holland, PA 18966, or via telehealth based on your preference. Day, evening, and weekend appointments are all available — we work around your schedule.
Common Questions
What should I say when I call?
You don’t need to prepare anything. Simply call and let us know you’re interested in scheduling an appointment. Ruth will gently guide the conversation from there. You can share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with.
How much does it cost?
We offer services on a sliding scale, ability-to-pay basis. Your fee is determined during your initial call with Ruth, based on your financial situation. We believe cost should never be a barrier to getting help. We accept cash, check, or credit card.
Can I do sessions remotely / by video?
Yes. Telehealth sessions are available based on your preference. In-person sessions are held at our office in Holland, PA. Either way, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to get the support you need.
Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?
Yes — evenings and weekends are very common. Our scheduling is flexible to fit around modern, busy lives. Let us know your availability and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
What if the first therapist isn’t the right fit?
A good therapeutic relationship is fundamental to effective counseling, and we take the match seriously. If after your initial sessions you feel a different clinician might be a better fit, please let Ruth know — we want to make sure you’re getting the care that’s right for you.
Is what I share kept confidential?
Yes. Everything shared in your sessions is confidential, within the limits required by law (for example, if there is imminent risk of harm to yourself or others). Your privacy is taken seriously by every member of our team.
Who are your clinicians?
Our therapists are dedicated, licensed professionals who also maintain private practices. One of our requirements is that their work at The Counseling Center is not their primary source of income — they’re here because they’re called to serve. Meet the full team →
